5+ Reasons Why Men Should Do Pilates

Posture

Pilates activates and trains the right muscles for good posture and alignment in and out of the studio. How often have you caught yourself in a mirror with your head and shoulders slumped forward? Better posture is not only aesthetically better but is functional as it gives you more energy throughout the day.

Strong Core

Every movement of pilates starts with our center/core. This is the foundation of strength and stability. The abdominals are just one part of this puzzle. Your core is composed of deep muscles in your stomach and back that attach to your spine and pelvis. A strong core can help with heavy lifting, cross-training for other sports and also reduces back pain.

Flexibility

Generally speaking men usually have more strength but less flexibility. Pilates can help improve this by working through the entire range of motion in each joint. Tight muscles are more prone to injury. Flexibility and mobility matters!

Muscles

By working slowly and precisely, we are activating the small intrinsic muscles. These small muscles will help you improve your fitness level and reduce risk of injury. Just because you can‘t “see“ these small muscles doesn’t mean they aren’t essential. Think of all the nuts, bolts and screws that hold an airplane together. The plane has power, but you better be sure you have all those small pieces in place before you fly!

Balance

Pilates works all your muscles from head to toe. By balancing muscle weaknesses and creating symmetry, you create more movement efficiency. This usually translates to more energy and vitality.

As if that wasn’t enough, here’s a few more:

Better coordination

Pain Relief

Stress reduction

Cross – training

Better bedroom performance
